Introduction to a theory of metaphysics

The following study is undertaken with the sole aim to coming to a better understanding of what there is. Ergo it can be considered a rework of Heidegger.

Metaphysical models such as:

  • Ontology of facts1
  • Ontology of actions2
  • Ontology of people
  • Ontology of meaning
  • Ontology of Signs

Are models or paradigmas which can be used to understand the world. The ontology of people applies to the context of Abrahamic faith traditions.

The fourth mode is the ontology of meaning which refers to semantical metaphysics. I associate it most directly to S. Ahmed’s What is Islam?

The ontology of Signs finds its origins in the writings of Umberto Eco. Also Dan Brown can be seen as the gate to the city of semiotics. The city of semiotics itself consists of the canon works of Harry Potter, the Quran, the Bible, Shakespeare and perhaps more.

Upon reflection maybe Eco’s work is also better characterized as an entry to semiotics rather than the sun of it.
