Why English is the prestige language can be explained by its feature of “Best!” being a academic response whereas “Het beste!” in Dutch raises some eyebrows (it is not entirely impossible to communicate this way though.) And as to my knowledge Italians do not use “otimo” as parting communication. Arabs also do not part ways with “tayyib” (e.g.)
