The topic of todays discussion will concern quranic words for &#8220;communication.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The two main forms are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hadith<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kalam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;hadith&#8221; form is often used in rhetorical questions like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Do they have a <em>hadith <\/em>from which they learn?&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The &#8220;kalam&#8221; form is in the more general <em>arabic <\/em>world also understood as &#8220;word.&#8221; In the realm of the Quran:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>&#8220;Wa roosoolan qad qasasnahum &#8216;alayka min qablu wa roosoolan lam naqsooshoom &#8216;alayka wa kalama Allahu moosa takleemaan&#8221;<sup data-fn=\"df3b0fbc-2415-44b5-a22b-e2dac89155f8\" class=\"fn\"><a href=\"#df3b0fbc-2415-44b5-a22b-e2dac89155f8\" id=\"df3b0fbc-2415-44b5-a22b-e2dac89155f8-link\">1<\/a><\/sup><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Actually the root &#8220;kaaf laam meem&#8221; is found two times in this: &#8220;&#8216;alayka wa <em>kalama <\/em>Allahu moosa <em>takleemaan<\/em>.&#8221; First it refers to the speech act of Allah subhanahu wa ta&#8217;ala and second it refers to the conversation between Allah and Moosa alaihi wa salaam.<\/p>\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-footnotes\"><li id=\"df3b0fbc-2415-44b5-a22b-e2dac89155f8\">Q 4:164 <a href=\"#df3b0fbc-2415-44b5-a22b-e2dac89155f8-link\" aria-label=\"Jump to footnote reference 1\">\u21a9\ufe0e<\/a><\/li><\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome todays lecture will consider the Quran culminating in the third part of this series.
